The Story Behind The Turning
There is a particular moment each year when autumn quietly announces its arrival.
It isn't usually dramatic. There are no sudden changes overnight. Instead, it appears in small ways. The air feels cooler on an early morning walk. The light softens. Leaves begin to gather along pathways that only weeks before were still green.
For us, autumn has always felt like a season that encourages reflection. After the energy and momentum of summer, there is something comforting about a slower pace. The pressure to be constantly moving begins to ease, replaced by a desire to spend more time outdoors, linger over simple routines and create space for quieter moments.
It was this feeling that inspired The Turning.

The Feeling Before The Fragrance
When we begin creating a seasonal scent, we don't start with ingredients.
We start with a feeling.
For The Turning, that feeling was the sense of standing at the edge of a new season. The moment when summer begins to fade and autumn gently takes its place. Not an ending, but a transition. The turning of leaves is one of autumn's most recognisable signs.
We found ourselves returning to the same images again and again. Woodland paths scattered with leaves. Misty mornings. The smell of damp earth after rain. The comfort of returning home after a long walk and stepping into warmth. Organisations such as the National Trust often highlight autumn as one of the best times of year to explore Britain's woodlands.
Before a single fragrance note was chosen, we already knew how we wanted the scent to feel: grounding, comforting and quietly restorative.

Building The Scent
From there, the fragrance began to take shape.
Cedarwood became the foundation of the blend. Warm and woody, it carries the feeling of autumn woodland walks and brings a sense of calm that feels immediately familiar.
Frankincense followed. Soft, resinous and gently warming, it adds depth and a feeling of stillness. It is a scent that has long been associated with reflection and ritual, making it a natural fit for the season that inspired this collection.
Vetiver became the final piece. Earthy and grounding, it anchors the fragrance and gives it the sense of balance we were searching for from the beginning.
Together, these notes create a scent that feels connected to the landscape of autumn without becoming overly seasonal or predictable. It isn't intended to smell like pumpkin spice or autumn candles. Instead, it captures something quieter — the atmosphere of the season itself.

More Than A Monthly Delivery
Although The Turning arrives as a shower steamer, the idea behind it has always been larger than the product itself.
At Deeprose, we believe rituals don't need to be complicated to be meaningful. A few uninterrupted minutes in the shower. A slower start to the morning. A conscious pause before moving into the rest of the day.
Those moments often pass unnoticed, yet they can have a profound effect on how we feel.
The Turning was created to become part of those moments. A small reminder, arriving each month, to reconnect with the season you're in and create space for yourself within it.
Why We Called It The Turning
The name arrived surprisingly early in the process.
The more we explored the season, the more we found ourselves returning to the idea of transition. The turning of leaves. The turning of weather. The turning from longer days towards darker evenings. The turning inward that so many of us naturally feel at this time of year.
The name seemed to capture everything we wanted the collection to represent.
Not change for the sake of change, but the quiet acceptance that seasons move forward and we move with them.
As autumn unfolds, we hope The Turning becomes a gentle reminder to notice those shifts. To embrace a slower pace when it feels needed. And to find comfort in the small rituals that help us feel grounded throughout the season.
Sometimes the most meaningful moments aren't the ones we plan for.
They're the ones we make space for.
