How to Use a Shower Steamer (And Why Placement Matters)

A shower steamer can transform an everyday shower into a calming aromatherapy ritual—but where you place it makes all the difference. Here's how to get the most from every shower.

How to Use a Shower Steamer (And Why Placement Matters)

Shower steamers have become one of the simplest ways to bring a little more intention to an everyday routine. Designed to release pure essential oils into the warm steam of your shower, they create an aromatherapy experience without asking you to find extra time in your day.

Yet one of the questions we're asked most often is surprisingly simple:

Where do you actually put a shower steamer?

It's a good question, because unlike a bath bomb, a shower steamer isn't designed to sit in water. Where you place it has a direct impact on how long it lasts, how well the fragrance fills your shower and, ultimately, how enjoyable the experience becomes.

Fortunately, getting it right couldn't be easier.

What is a shower steamer?

A shower steamer is a tablet made with pure essential oils that transforms your everyday shower into an aromatherapy ritual.

Rather than dissolving in bath water, a shower steamer is activated by the warmth and moisture of your shower. As it gently fizzes, the steam carries the fragrance around the space, allowing you to enjoy the natural aroma while you shower.

It's a simple addition to a routine you already have, making it easy to create a few moments that feel calmer, slower and entirely your own.

A shower steamer isn't designed to dissolve as quickly as possible—it's designed to release fragrance gradually throughout your shower.

Where should you place a shower steamer?

The ideal place is just out of the direct stream of water.

You want enough splashes to gently activate the shower steamer, but not so much that it dissolves immediately. This allows it to release its essential oils gradually, giving you a richer fragrance and a longer-lasting experience.

Think of it as finding the sweet spot. Close enough to the water to fizz gently, but far enough away that the steam—not the water—does most of the work.

If placed directly beneath the shower head, your shower steamer will dissolve much more quickly than intended. If it's too far away, it won't activate properly.

A little adjustment makes all the difference.

Why we include a marble holder

When creating The Deeprose, we knew we wanted every part of the experience to feel thoughtful.

After searching for the right piece, we chose a solid natural marble holder that complements our shower steamers beautifully while helping them perform exactly as they should.

By lifting your shower steamer away from pooling water and positioning it perfectly within the shower, the holder allows it to dissolve more gradually, helping you enjoy the fragrance for longer.

Each holder is carved from natural stone, making every piece beautifully unique. No two share the same veining, colour or markings, giving each one its own quiet character.

Long after you've enjoyed your first collection, your holder remains. Ready for the next season, the next fragrance and the next ritual.

That's why it's included, complimentary, with every first subscription.

Crafted from natural marble, every holder is unique—designed by nature and chosen to become part of your everyday ritual.

A small detail that changes everything

A shower steamer is, by its nature, a simple product.

But simplicity is often where the most meaningful rituals begin.

A little fragrance. Warm steam. A few uninterrupted minutes behind a closed bathroom door.

The holder is just one small part of that experience, yet it helps create the conditions for every shower to feel a little slower, a little calmer and a little more intentional.

Because sometimes it's the smallest details that make the biggest difference.
